The Swedish Academy is Sweden’s foremost cultural institution whose purpose it is to advance language and literature. The academy was founded in 1786 by Gustaf 111. Not only did he wish to advance the Swedish language, he also wished to promote the Swedish theatre, music and the arts. Consequently the Swedish Academy was enriched with beautiful, valuable works of art. Ateljé Catellani has worked on assignments commissioned by the Swedish Academy and has restored several of these artworks, such as the portrait by of Anders Celsius to the left.
